The Club’s Souvenir Book Lands Some Super Stars - Senator, Barrack Obama, Mayor. Richard M.Daley, and Congressman, Bobby Rush
The 2008 APCA Souvenir Book prepared by HSPCCC will be, we believe, the best tournament book ever printed. Thanks to the hard work of the Souvenir Book staff, we have acknowledgements from some of the country’s foremost political leaders. Their words of encouragements, acknowledgements, and pictures are treasures to behold.
The office of the presumptive presidential nominee,
and the current U.S. Democratic Senator from Illinois, Barrack Obama, has sent
us an acknowledged statement along with a picture to be displayed in the
Book.
The office of Mayor Richard M. Dailey, the 6th-term,
current mayor of Chicago, has also sent us his congratulatory words of
Welcome. His statement was also
accompanied with and official mayoral picture.
Additionally, the office of 7th term Democratic
Congressman Bobby Rush who represents the state of Illinois (which includes
Chicago) has sent his picture with words of encouragements as well
Also, the Club has received words of Greetings from
a number of local and state officials acknowledging the 42 Annual APCA National
Tournament. Words of thanks, to these
leaders, are offered by the Club President, Mr. Stoney Burke and all of it’s
membership.
The completion of the multi-colored 90 paged 2008
APCA Souvenir Book is imminent and will be available by tournament time –
July 13, 2008. SINCE THERE WILL BE A
LIMITED NUMBER OF COPIES PRINTED, ALL ARE ASKED TO MAKE THEIR PURCHASES EARLY. The price will be $10.00 for the
public. Each participants in the 42
Annual Tournament will, of course, be given a free copy. Also, Those who purchased an Ad of $50.00 or
more will be given a free copy. Club
members will pay $5.00 if they don’t participate in the tournament.

It is a pleasure to welcome all guests and attendees gathered for the 42nd Annual National American Pool Checkers Association (APCA) Tournament. To the Homan Square Pool Checkers and Chess Club of Chicago (HSPCCC), I extend my best wishes as you host this competitive event in the Chicago Metro area.
As competitors and spectators from across the country convene for this event, there is potential for excitement and enthusiasm. Participants in this tournament are provided with an opportunity to showcase their skills and competitive spirits. The APCA’s efforts to engage young people and to fortify their character and self-esteem through such challenging activities are truly noteworthy.
