About the HSPCCC

Welcome to the Homan Square Pool Checkers & Chess Club of Chicago.

We are located at 3359 W. Arthington Street, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. – Club Room #3

Our Club Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2:30pm – 9:00pm.

The Club was created for the purpose of providing on-going playing activities for the adherents of American Pool Checkers and Chess. This club was formed in February 2003 predominately by players of American Pool Checkers but who had a certain fascination for the game of Chess. As should be expected, often times, the higher-level American Pool Checker Players are found to be pretty good at the game of Chess.

The mission of The Homan Square Pool Checkers & Chess Club of Chicago is to promote and preserve the games of American Pool Checkers and Chess throughout the City, the State , and the United States through education and social activities. HSPCCC has a great desire to mentor, teach, and reach the children and youth of our city, as well as our senior citizens. We provide free Chess and Checkers lessons weekly to all who come. Although the participants are very competitive - respect, dignity, and good sportsmanship are taught, which are essential components of our program. Our primary goals and objectives are to help the participants grow and develop their skills to his or her full potential while learning and having fun in a safe and competitive environment.

It is believed by those in the Pool Checkers community that many of its top players (Top Masters-and others) can compete successfully with the Superior level -2000 and 2100+ even beyond FIDE and USCF rated players – given a little time to prepare.

With this belief in mind, the organizers of HSPCCC decided to combine the game playing of both American Pool Checkers and Chess. Consequently, with that specific purpose in mind, it now supports a membership of over 50 players with a least 50% playing both games. And a significant number of them play the game pretty good.

To provide playing opportunities for both games, the Club sponsors one Open tournament (in each game) annually. Additionally, several In-House tournaments are also sponsored. Also, we provide private matches on an un-rated play basis.

All Are Welcome!
